Janet Frame was born in Dunedin on the 28th of August 1924. She lived in Oamaru for 14 years. She was educated at Oamaru North School, Waitaki Girls High School and also at Wyndham District High School. She went to Otago University, then she attended Teachers College. Since then she has become the best known living writer in New Zealand. She has written 11 novels, 4 short story collections, a volume of poetry and 1 children's book . One of those novels, An Angel at my Table, was made into a movie. She has won numerous awards including various scholarships and fellowships. In her spare time she writes, reads, listens to music, plays chess and just like a lot of us, loves computing! |
